Beauty Trend this spring: The No-Makeup look.
Wherever you look at these days, whether the designer catwalks or the Oscars, minimalism is a priority in terms of spring makeup.
“Why not just leave the makeup off, since it’s called no-makeup”? Good question, simple answer: only a very few have a perfect, flawless skin and look fresh all day. We want to look like we’ve been outside in the open air all day, with sun-kissed skin and rosy cheeks. The “no-makeup-makeup-look” is the actual trend. With my makeup-tutorial and the instructions, I’ll show you how to pick up the look easily by yourself:
Step 1
Not to prime is a crime! Instead of a cream primer, for the no-makeup look, I’m using the Quick Fix Hydrating Primer of Urban Decay which, since I’ve discovered it, is my permanent companion. Whether as a primer, a finish or a refreshing in between, thanks to the spray the makeup stays perfect and becomes one with the skin.
Step 2
As a foundation, I recommend the MAC Face and Body Make-up. Since it is water-based, it allows applying thin layers. One more advantage: this makeup enables “building”, in other words, you can let the first layer dry to apply the second one to intensify the covering degree. As a sponge I use a Beautyblender (pls. wet thoroughly and wring out) which I damp as well with some of the Quick Fix Spray.
Step 3
I cover redness and small spots with Make-up Forever HD Concealer, by having a high covering power it does not clog the fine eye creases.
Step 4
To avoid the foundation to shine on the entire face, I mattify parts of it with the Mac Next to Nothing Powder by avoiding the point of the nose as well as the chin. The powder is light and gentle and represents the perfect base for the eyeshadow.
Step 5
The Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, smelling like chocolate, by the way, is my fail-safe for any occasion. It matches every skin tone and the colour shades are nicely pigmented and allow the simple application. For the no-makeup look apply the Salted Caramel shade in the eyelid crease, phase out gently towards the eyebrow. Apply the same shade with a soft eyeshadow brush along the lower eyelashes.
Step 6
The Better Than Sex Mascara of Too Faced is my favourite mascara these days. It separates the eyelashes at perfection and allows for either a subtle look or putting the pedal to the metal. It withstands rain and wind. Tip: first apply on the lower lashes. By doing it the other way around you risk touching the upper lid with the freshly mascaraed lashes.
Step 7
Beautiful, full eyebrows are elemental for your facial expression. Shape your eyebrows with a brush and fill the gaps with a thin paintbrush and eyeshadow (I chose the shade Milk Chocolate from the Too Faced Palette) by painting short dash-like strokes to mimic your natural hair.
Step 8+9
Bronzer and blusher are a must for the no-makeup look, too. The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in the shade Global Glow provides a tinge of tan to your face, thanks to the many shimmering pigments you can go without highlighter on your cheeks. For light makeup-looks, as a blusher, I’m using the MAC Powder Blush in the Melba shade. It matches every skin tone and looks always fresh without looking made-up.
Step 10
Last but not the least, there’s just some lip colour missing. The Rouge Coco Mademoiselle of Chanel Nr. 434 is a beautiful mix of nude and soft pink. Apply a little amount on your lips, tap in with the fingers and… your no-makeup look is ready to go!
