Whether shimmering blue, violet, reddish or olive: the dark circles around the eyes keep us busy at any time of the year.
While we invest a lot of time and money in our face care, the sensitive eye area often falls by the wayside. Most women also use their day care on the eyes, but they require a completely different treatment than the rest.
Why do we have dark circles around our eyes?
The skin on the eyes and the subcutaneous fatty tissue is many times thinner than on the rest of the face, which is why we can also see the vessels shimmering through, which we then perceive as circles around the eyes. In summer, the vessels dilate with heat, which can make darker and more intense circles around the eyes. To get rid of shadows in the long term, we first have to understand where they come from. Apart from the genetic component, our eyes provide information about health, lifestyle, nutrition and care.
Facts about rings around the eyes and how to get rid of them:
1) You are what you eat.
Pronounced dark circles around the eyes are often the result of an unhealthy diet. 2-3 litres a day moisturise the skin and replenish the area under the eyes. Iron and vitamin C are the biggest enemies of eye shadow. The main task of iron is the transport of oxygen in the blood. The better we oxygenate our blood, the brighter it becomes and the less vessels shine through the skin. Too much salt removes moisture from the body, so it is best to look for hidden salts in finished products and reduce fast food consumption somewhat.
2) Maintenance, care, care.
Take the time and the money and invest in a suitable eye cream for your needs. Smile lines and dark circles can be reduced considerably by optimal care. If the skin is oily and tends to swell, use a light gel. Tip: Always pat eye care in from the inner corner of the eye to the outside, this works like a lymph drainage. For in between there are great pads, which are only for the game under the eyes and fill up their moisture depot in no time at all.
3) As far as skin is concerned, I have a no-compromise rule:
Remake up at any price (no matter if tired or drunk)! The younger you are, the more the skin forgives. It is important that we remove make-up correctly and always and care for our skin every evening. Rubbing and aggressive make-up remover can make the skin around the eyes even thinner. I recommend you keep your hands off oily emulsions (I don’t know about you, but I’m half blind for an hour afterwards), even waterproof makeup can be removed differently. Below I have listed my favorites for the summer.
4) Fake it to make it!
Of course, the right concealer can make you five years younger and fresher. On hot days, like to change to light textures and pay attention to the moisture content of the covering cream. I recommend salmon tones for shadows under the eyes, as blue and purple can be neutralized well (yellow tones often turn grey under the eyes). During the day, simply add a drop of sunscreen to the care and eye cream.
5) It is not called beauty sleep for nothing.
The quality of sleep not only affects our health, but also our appearance. If you can (I’ve been trying for 6 months and can’t make it), sleep on your back, then the lymph can run better and morning swelling is history. A silk cushion also cares for the skin with natural silk proteins and prevents wrinkles on the eyes. By the way, not only good for the skin, but also for the hair.
